Two years into the integration process into the NX Group, cargo-partner reports steady progress in its Post-Merger Integration (PMI) journey. Luca Ferrara, CEO of cargo-partner, said: “From the very first day of our journey with NX Group, we have shared a clear vision: to combine the strengths of two powerful networks into one seamless global force. Over the past two years, we have not only integrated systems and operations, but also united our people under a common purpose. This partnership is creating opportunities that neither of us could have achieved alone, and we are committed to driving innovation, efficiency, and value for our customers worldwide.”

Establishing a strong foundation
The first year of integration included a reorganization of the group’s corporate structure and the alignment of key business units to ensure a smooth transition into the NX Group. Integration into NX operations was completed in Sweden, Italy, and Spain, while warehouse and office relocations in the USA and Singapore improved operational efficiency. In 2025, the integration process advanced further, with business transfers completed or in progress in Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the USA, and integration phases underway in Korea and the Netherlands.

Germany, UK and Ireland – unified presence for enhanced collaboration
The company will join forces with Nippon Express Deutschland (NED) to create a unified and powerful presence for customers under the well-established Nippon Express brand. As part of this reorganization, cargo-partner will consolidate its German activities in Düsseldorf, focusing its expertise on serving its global network and agent partners. Key operational functions, including sea freight and sales, will be transitioned to NED to enhance collaboration. This strategic realignment is set to be completed by the end of February 2026 and is a decisive step toward building a more resilient and growth-oriented future in Germany. As part of its ongoing integration with Nippon Express, cargo-partner has streamlined its leadership in the UK and Ireland by appointing a single Managing Director, Steve Williams, to lead the combined region. This strategic move creates a unified management structure, fostering closer collaboration and strengthening the company's market presence across the UK and Ireland under a single, cohesive strategy.

Hungary and Romania – Nippon Express integrated into cargo-partner
A particularly notable milestone in the integration journey is taking place in Hungary and Romania, where the process is unique within the NX Group. In these countries, the strength of cargo‑partner’s brand, its long-standing market expertise, and its extensive customer base have led NX to integrate its local operations fully into cargo‑partner. This strategic decision reflects the recognition that cargo‑partner’s established position in these markets offers the optimal platform for future growth.

In Hungary, the combined operations have adopted the new name NX Cargo‑Partner Hungary Kft. as of January 2026, bringing together 201 cargo‑partner employees and 40 NX colleagues into a single, unified team of 241 professionals. In Romania, the new entity NX Cargo‑Partner Romania s.r.l. has united 209 cargo‑partner employees with three NX colleagues, creating a team of 212. These integrations not only preserve the cargo‑partner identity in both countries but also strengthen the overall NX Group network by leveraging local expertise and customer trust built over decades.

Sweden – smooth integration with APC
Another notable success story has been Sweden, where the local cargo‑partner team was integrated into APC Sweden, a subsidiary of NX Group. The process not only maintained a high level of team stability and employee engagement, but also opened up new business opportunities, improved cost efficiency, and delivered profitable results – all of which contributed to the success of the global NX network. The legal integration was finalized in March 2025, followed by a seamless operational transition.

Looking ahead into 2026, cargo-partner and NX Group will focus on bridging business foundations and infrastructure, fully leveraging the NX network to enhance cooperation and service quality, and preserving each organization’s core strengths to ensure customer satisfaction and operational excellence. Both companies will continue to motivate their teams through shared goals and profit-sharing initiatives, while maintaining customer trust through seamless, integrated business management.
