Tracking success in the CEE region

When packages dance and forklifts serve dinner

After eleven months of construction, cargo-partner celebrated the official opening of its iLogistics Center near the airport of Ljubljana with an extravagant gala dinner. The new iLogistics Center is the largest logistics complex of the cargo-partner group. The same month, we also celebrated our 25th anniversary in Hungary with a retro-inspired party at the old airport in Budapest.

On September 21, 2019, cargo-partner celebrated the official opening of its new iLogistics Center in Ljubljana with over 300 guests. After one month of successful operations, the opening celebration offered an opportunity to express gratitude to the responsible project team as well as key customers and partners in the region. Despite the complexity and size of the project, the construction was completed within eleven months as planned, and the center was successfully put into operation. A great reason to celebrate this achievement together.

After brief opening speeches and acknowledgements in the presence of the Austrian Ambassador to Slovenia, Sigrid Berka, as well as Alenka Bratušek, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure of Slovenia, the festive portion of the evening began. The gala dinner that followed was capped by an extravagant light show, live music from the a cappella jazz band “Perpetuum Jazzile” and an unusual dance show. The dance show was created by renowned Slovenian choreographer Miha Krušič and parcels played the star role.

cargo-partner iLogistics Center Slovenia - Opening Event

One of the largest warehouses in the country is packed full of advantages

With 25,000 square meters of storage area and 4,000 square meters of office space, the iLogistics Center is one of the largest warehouse complexes in the region and will serve the customers of cargo-partner in Slovenia as well as other countries in Central and Eastern Europe. The warehouse has 44 truck loading docks and offers over 22,000 pallet slots, a 6,000 m² small parts store and handling area, and 5,000 m² of cross-dock and block storage space. An additional storage building with 8,000 m² can be added next to the current warehouse at a later stage.

The iLogistics Center enables storage under temperature-controlled conditions and meets the requirements for storing and handling the most demanding goods, such as pharmaceuticals and medical devices, automotive and high-tech goods. The high-rack aisles contain a combination of induction-guided narrow-aisle and standard wide-aisle racking systems – an arrangement that has already proved itself successfully in the award-winning iLogistics Center at cargo-partner’s head office. The warehouse complies with the TAPA standard and access is strictly controlled.

Based on many years of experience and state-of-the-art equipment, the company offers its customers a range of contract logistics services at the new facility, including short- and long-term storage, picking and packing, labeling, cross-docking, consolidation, multi-channel distribution, and comprehensive eFulfillment for online shops.

But it isn’t just the warehouse that shines. The adjacent office building with 4,000 m² of usable area and energy-efficient design offers the employees a comfortable working environment. Already in August 2019, all office and warehouse sites of cargo-partner in Slovenia, including the company’s Slovenian head office, were moved to the new building. Only cargo-partner’s Koper office remains in the vicinity of the Adriatic port.

cargo-partner has been present in Slovenia since 1996 and is creating 30 new jobs with its iLogistics Center Ljubljana, which will bring the total employees in the country to 130 by the end of the year. This commitment to the economic development of the region was already honored in 2018 by SPIRIT Slovenia with the Invest Slovenia FDI Award in the category “Logistics Center/Hub”.

“Our goal was to make use of this important, strategic hub in the heart of Europe with a state-of-the-art logistics complex and to bring our headquarters as well as our other offices in Ljubljana together under one roof. We put a lot of love into this project as we want to offer the best working conditions, be a great employer for our staff and the best partner for our customers!”

A quarter century of cargo-partner in Hungary

The opening of the iLogistics Center was not the only reason to celebrate, however. In the same month, cargo-partner celebrated its 25th anniversary in Hungary, highlighting the long history and strong position of the company in the CEE region. Because the Hungarian branch began in 1994 with a small team at the Budapest airport, it seemed fitting to mark the anniversary by holding an exceptional gala evening in the old Budapest airport terminal. The stylish retro charms of the old check-in hall offered a worthy backdrop for a party full of highlights and enchanting details: Our guests were greeted by cargo-partner flight attendants and, after check-in, were able to amuse themselves with activities such as quiz games and puzzles or by trying out a flight simulator.

After the opening speeches by cargo-partner CEO Stefan Krauter and Attila Becze, Director Sub-Region Hungary and Romania, the evening continued with a gala dinner with beautiful musical accompaniment. True to the company motto “we take it personally”, the obligatory birthday cake served at the end of the meal was personally baked with great care by the Hungarian management team. But whether the baking skills of management have been pivotal to the long-lasting success of cargo-partner in Hungary remains unclear. What is certain is that the local branch in Hungary is one of the market leaders in air and sea freight and offers high-quality solutions in contract logistics and road transport with over 35,000 m² of storage space. With just over 140 employees in three offices, cargo-partner is further strengthening its position and will be moving its airport branch to the newly erected logistics center BUD Cargo City at the end of 2019. We offer our sincere congratulations for the successful journey so far and look forward to another 25 great years.
