Situation
Volumes are picking up toward November, and we expect to see a similar trend in the second half of the month. In the meantime, shipping lines have announced additional blank sailings, which will further tighten space availability. As a result, rates are expected to increase in the coming weeks.
Obstacles
The situation in Asian ports remains relatively stable, but weather-related disruptions are expected in Europe in the coming weeks. In addition, strikes in Rotterdam and Antwerp, led to disruptions and congestions on the European side, continue to create obstacles for on-time deliveries and overall reliability.
Outlook
Volumes for seasonal cargo – such as fashion, DIY, and garden furniture – are expected to increase in the coming weeks. We will also start to see a gradual buildup in pre-Chinese New Year volumes. However, since the holiday falls in mid-February, the main cargo rush is likely to occur in the second half of December and into January.
