cargo-partner Delivers Part of New Production Line for Kia

International transport and info-logistics provider cargo-partner has been providing customs clearance services for Kia Motors Slovakia and its subcontractors since 2006. Recently, Kia Motors addressed cargo-partner with the request to transport an oversized shipment consisting of part of a production line worth 3.2 million euro to Kia’s production plant in Žilina, Slovakia. The machines were shipped in five containers: two 40’ flat racks, two 40’ high cubes, and one 20’ container. The largest items contained in the shipment were two cold testers with a volume of 46.44 m3 each and a gross weight of 6,980 kg and 7,100 kg respectively. cargo-partner took over the consignment at the port of Hamburg, arranged fiscal clearance and prepared the transport licenses required for transporting the oversized shipment from Germany to Slovakia. The consignment was then shipped in four trucks from Hamburg to the Kia plant in Žilina.

We are glad to support Kia Motors Slovakia in the ongoing expansion of its production facilities in Žilina.”

cargo-partner has been present in Slovakia since 1993 and has many years of experience in the transport of oversize shipments. With its warehouse facilities in Dunajská Streda, the logistics provider is directly connected to the Metrans container terminal. This way, cargo-partner can move oversized and heavy cargoes directly from and to the container trains, making use of daily train departures to the ports of Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Koper and Rijeka. The company has branch offices in Bratislava, Dunajská Streda, Žilina and Košice. In 2016, cargo-partner in Slovakia generated a turnover of 41.3 million euro.

The Kia Motors production plant in Žilina was opened in 2006 and currently employs 3,800 workers. The facility has a total area of 1,653,000 m2 and an annual production capacity of 350,000 vehicles, which constitutes 10 percent of Kia’s global production capacity. Models produced at the Žilina plant are the compact “cee’d”, the SUV “Sportage” and the minivan “Venga”.
