Situation
Several shipping lines have announced a peak season surcharge (PSS) again, but with different dates. The earliest is set for May 13. This affects not only the USA, but also Canada and Mexico.
Obstacles
Shipping lines are mainly looking for volumes to US South-East Coast ports such as Charleston and Savannah.
Outlook
If the PSS is successfully implemented, there could be significant rate differences between carriers, as not all carriers will adopt it. The PSS ranges from 900 to 1,000 USD per 40HC and currently applies only to FAK tariffs and new business.
